No, he said it is essential to return captured land in order to achieve peace. We both disagreed with him, but Japan is an example of where a country captured land, failed to achieve peace, and had to give it back. The Japan case (where they had to return land to China, Korea, Philippines, others) supports his argument, when you meant to counter it. And, as I said, the US returned land to Japan that we captured in WW2, further supporting his argument that return of land is a prerequisite to achieving peace.
Russia hanging onto the Japanese Sakhalin islands is an example of where he is wrong. Russia captured them in WW2, and kept them, and doesn't appear to have any revolution under its thumb on Sakhalin, probably because it's too freaking cold to go out and fight up there. |
