I don't know of hardly any extreme left group in the US today that has the means to inflict any of its nonsense on anyone except its own followers, with the possible exception of a few people in Hollywood and the arts where all they can do is construct media to reflect their views. That contrasts with the neocons who spent the last six years in power - though they are far from the most extreme rightists around. The Bush crowd has dented the constitution and our human rights record in a number of areas, certainly. But the damage was limited and reparable by a more moderate successor if that is what we get. The NR fringe on that cruise ship would throw the Constitution out the window and just implement a police state to lock up and execute anyone they felt like destroying.
