Too cynical? They're throwing out low baseline levels as an excuse, but to my knowledge they never told us the patients studied in the 2b would have significantly different baseline characteristics from those in the 2a. I probably would have run the other way if I'd known that.

2a results:

professional.diabetes.org

2b protocol:

clinicaltrials.gov

I can't find the protocol for the 2a. The box for searching for trials that are no longer recruiting is greyed out. When I check it, I get nothing.

I agree it won't cost much to look. I'm just afraid they'll find something spurious and chase after it. A conspiracy theorist might say Daiichi sabotaged the trial by allowing the patient population they did. As you noted, they are both partner and competitor.

sankyopharma.com

It wouldn't shock me if the Lerach crowd jumps on this.

Cheers, Tuck
