Agreed, they both stink. But Fatah was voted out democratically, which IMO is positive. That says that Pal voters actually do understand that corruption and incompetence are problems. I want Fatah voted out in WB as well, but hopefully it is clear to WestBankians that Hamas is not the answer either. Hence I'm not happy with US/Israeli propping of Abbas, but what to do without a reasonable alternative? Iraq does not offer lots of hope wrt to Arabs and democracy, but at least WB Pals don't have the ethnic fratricide urges of democratic Iraq, so perhaps they can make some progress.
