The media's obsession with Jeri Thompson

Mark Levin looks at the way some in the media have responded to the fact that Fred Thompson's attractive wife is 24 years younger than he is. A lot of the coverage is disguised as journalists pondering how other people, particularly women, will respond to learning that Thompson's wife is so much younger than he is. Some of them, like Susan Estrich, are honest enough to admit that they're the ones who have a problem with his wife and that they're extrapolating from their own feelings.

What does it say about a man who's busy having babies only two years after being diagnosed with lymphoma? What does it say that he'd rather be with someone who wasn't even alive when JFK was shot, or at least was too young to remember where she was? What does it say that he doesn't care that she doesn't remember the songs and the history and the fears we grew up with? Where does it leave those of us who do?

Dateless is where. And maybe voting no. I can't help it. It makes me like Fred Thompson less. And I can't believe I'm the only one.

Let me help Ms. Estrich with her math. If Mrs. Thompson is 40 years old, it is quite unlikely that she remembers where she was when JFK was shot in 1963.

And as Mark Levin has pointed out, Barack Obama, born in 1961, probably doesn't remember where he was when JFK was shot either. He probably doesn't remember Beatlemania either. Does that mean that Estrich doesn't feel the same about Obama?
