PLO, Hamas, Hizbollah and Fatah, the main Palestinian political organs, therefore appear all to call for the destruction of Israel. Despite the fact that no important Israeli document contains such an aggressive goal, many posters here think Israel is somehow solely at fault. Moreover, even a cursory comparison at each side's popular culture, media, etc., would yield the inescapable conclusion that Arabs and Palestinians are far worse racists than the Israelis. Nonetheless, the two sides are considered, at best, by many here as equals in this regard.
The discussion borders on the bizarre for its stunning, abject stupidity.
I really admire you for the effort you put into dispelling notions which based on passion and prejudice, an effort which thus far unfortunately appears singularly unsuccessful. If the things I read here are in any way reflective of the analytical skills of a decent cross section of 'educated' Americans, we are in it deep, very deep. Perhaps the mainstream is slowly becoming Oriental. God help us if that is true. |
