Broadcom says offered Verizon deal to others
Thu Jul 19, 2007 5:33PM EDT
NEW YORK, July 19 (Reuters) - Broadcom Corp. (BRCM.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Thursday it offered the same deal that it agreed with Verizon Wireless to other businesses in the industry.

Broadcom and Verizon Wireless said on Thursday they reached a licensing deal to allow Verizon to sell mobile phones that are subject to a U.S government import ban related to chips from Qualcomm Inc (QCOM.O: Quote, Profile, Research).

The phones in question use a wireless chip technology that is the focus of a patent dispute between Broadcom and Qualcomm.
