The problem with Iran getting nuclear weapons is that the Iranian leadership does not respect international law, only an extreme version of sharia law. Furthermore, the leadership has an apocalyptic worldview and has expressed a willingness to sacrifice millions of lives to commit genocide. While the Communist powers were deterrable, the Iranian leadership is very likely not to be.

Its for sure the UNSC would never authorize an attack on Iran. That would likely continue to be true even if it used nuclear weapons against another country. Which means Iran is untouchable if no military action is allowed w/o UN approval. Which also means the threat you advocated giving Iran (to bomb it back into the 8th century) is empty and meaningless.

BTW an attack on Iran wouldn't be an invasion, but a bombing mission or series of bombing missions designed to destroy / degrade their nuclear facilities.
