As the Saudis discovered, that's the problem with coming to power on the backs of fanatics. Once you have power, you have to placate them and give them another mission that furthers the "revolution". If you don't, you have to wipe them out.

That's what the Saudis did.


Haven't the Saudis done both the first and the second by turns? The trick is, you have to point these extremists at some other target besides yourself. That's difficult when you are the closest and juiciest target.

That's why the Question of Palestine has been indispensible to the Arab regimes.
