Our system is based on the premise if innocence until proven guilty. Many innocent people have gone to jail and many guilty ones have been set free on "technicalities". The latter may very well occur given Vick's high profile status. Should he be found innocent because court clerk misplaced or mislabelled a piece of evidence, our imperfect court system will set him free. If such occurs, should we claim his innocence and buy his jerseys and his sneakers?

The evidence against this guy is overwhelming. He certainly wasn't breeding puppies for sale to little children with a company called "Bad Newz Kennels".

As far as comparing his actions to killing or raping of children, obviously there is no comparison. But this does not and should not diminish the senseless cruelty this SOB demonstrated towards a helpless animal. The animals were not killed for food or clothing. They were crushed for pure pleasure and with total indifference to their suffering.

One more thing, after several years my wife finally gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. But before our little treasure came along we had a little Maltese. That little dog was our baby for many years. You cannot imagine what an intelligent animal it is. Although it cannot speak it understands almost everything we tell him. He cries when we leave him alone and pouts when we don't give him attention. We even went as far as toilet training him on diaper pads so that he is always clean. I was never one who wanted a dog and certainly never did I think I would become so affectionate to it. But now I would not trade our little dog for the world as he is part of our family.
