lb lets confessions go on sunday ,, usually.
I didn't say the additive is not effective. however i give you another example of engine protection. valves, etc.. the mac trucks we ran back in 60's 70's used a product called Delvac,, commercial oil for fleets, supposed to high detergent .. yet, it was a straight rebrand off mobil speical or mobil oil. i know i worked with lube plants in my day. well in our terminal we would break down the engines for overhaul at 400,000 mailes and up to 740,000 miles.. these engines were spotless, no varnish build up on them. the tech guys were amazed at the engine conditions. that was several years before the first syn oil. Oh, those engines also ran over 1,million miles some were running 1.2 and 1.3 with what the mechanics called a half engine rebuild. I didn't understand what it meant other than not doing a complete engine rebuild.
bottom line if you change oil frequently, back in those days you had a good chance of preventing damage unless the engine itself had structural problems.
my point of toptier and i do not know enough about it and the group listed is very limited. I would not say if not on the list then other products do meet the top tier program. It could be others have not applied or maybe the requirements are to use competitive additive such as Chev additive. |
