Watch this: youtube.com Most insurgents in Iraq are not affiliated with al Qaeda - they are Sunnis who don't want Shia rule and don't like the American presence. The Bush position has two possible plausible causes - Bush is a cynical liar trying desperately to breath support into the Iraqi mess or Bush is such an incompetent idiot he actually believes what he says and if thats the case its no wonder we are in the mess in Iraq. The thing is - until we see the Iraqi issues for what they really are - Sunnis and Shia hate each other and that there will be no political reconciliation - Iraq will go nowhere and we will continue to piss in the wind. Profits for multi-nationals will be up due to the bad currency exchange. The SP500 just made a nominal new high after 7 years and the Naz is 50% off its high - so using the narrow DOW as proof of a vote of confidence in Bush is Ludicrous. The stock markets must have loved Clinton. The sub-prime mess is infecting the value of a lot of bonds - this will contaminate the economy as credit standards tighten, the housing bubble further deflates and a lot of bond/hedge funds take huge write offs or even vaporize - its inevitable and its already happening if you open your eyes you will see it. What Bush is doing however - ruining the economy and stubbornly staying in a hated un-winnable war - is not only immoral and incompetent - its going to bury your precious Republican party so deep it will be 20 years before they ever hold any power again.
