Probably a drip, pentothal, nerve block or epidural and later opiates. You seem clear minded after. When under you told all your stock secrets to the doctor on the table who promptly went out and bought the crap out of your worry wall stock, which improved its performance.

In fact the clear minded feeling is an illusion. You are actually post op in a conscious dream-like state and euphoric because of the opiates. Things seem very rosy once care is lifted, hence the opiates psyche addictive effect. Opiates are of course dually addictive, psyche and physio.

What I have noticed as did Coleridge, is that the opiates cause things to actually look far better than they do in a standard state of consciousness. Girls look more beautiful etc, although there is no hallucination. Mood changes many things in perception.
