I understand your perspective, but it is a dangerous philosophy. Throughout the history, the respect for the "office" has done more harm than good. Do you believe the Russians should have had respect for Stalin because he occupied the office? Or should they have had respect for the "office" the provided the means for Stalin to bring so much misery to them?

The office is simply a means to satisfy a need. Without satisfying that need, the office is less than the brick and mortar that makes it; it becomes a drain on the national resources and a source of great damage to the nation. Given the huge power that it holds and the damage it can do, I'd rather see it under easier scrutiny than see psychological and "patriotic" barriers to criticism of it.
