"Like I said, the only good thing it would accomplish is drastically reducing the number of uninsured."

You say that, but offer nothing as proof.

One good thing is it enables the issue of malpractice to be addressed. That, and the removal of bad docs from practice would solve the problem. There would no longer be big awards because of settlements because the issue of long term care is addressed.

And there is no reason why we couldn't have lower costs due to single payer. The paperwork load would be lower, which also cuts the costs to the docs. So, between the lower malpractice insurance and lower staffing requirements, their costs are drastically reduced. And that assumes no other efficiencies in the system.

"To some, that's worth all of the negatives like high taxes, bureaucratic red tape, a drastic decline in quality of service, etc."

Excuse me, there already is a lot of bureaucratic red tape. To the point that only Canada of the major, industrialized countries has more. Most have significantly less. You haven't made a case that it would be worse.

Taxes would be higher. But overall costs should be lower. So it is a matter of shifting money from one pocket to the other.

And why would there be a drastic decline in quality of service? You haven't made a case for this one either. Just saying it doesn't make it so. Why would quality decline compared to other countries which have such a system?
