Bre-X ... another couple of comments after following the thread through the Strathcona report that revealed the salting scam: Reading the Bre-X board is indeed an essential part of the education of any would-be PM investor. I've noticed a couple more names I recognize. Robnhood who spoke sense - you were right on to use the "cult" label. Another name still on SI but not on this board, gold_tutor, destroyed her credibility for ever as far as I'm concerned, by constantly rubbishing someone who's skeptical posts actually saved many people a lot of money, BigDude. The whole Bre-X board is a goldmine for people interested in understanding crowd behaviour, the will to believe, the mob's rage against non-believers. Finally, how different this board is! Is it because the riff-raff have left SI? Perhaps the whole Bre-X experience inoculated the remaining SI members against scams, leaving a healthy residue of skepticism.
