My understanding of British history including running NZ isn't something which I rate highly, other than compared with the hideous ideologies of others.

I prefer comparisons with perfection rather than the rotten alternatives.

I can imagine some reparations are more good than harmful, especially when the victimized are still alive. But mostly, reparations are just committing another offence against somebody now. Those people will then need reparations in another 200 years.

Slavery did exist. It's no different from conscription. One's life is confiscated for the benefit of others against one's will.

Conscription was a threat to me. Therefore I need compensation for mental distress. Compounded of course over the intervening years.
