LC I saw all the little green (really they are green) the taxis in Xian earlier this month, a small city of 'only' 6 million. All NG powered. Buses also. From what I saw the Chinese are serious about energy conservation and cleaner air. They have a very long way to go mind you.

We are seeing LNG imports offsetting the US NG supply... but the profound ramification of that is not increased US supply... NG is rapidly going global like oil already is.

Many Chinese cities ban scooters in the downtown due to pollution (and danger). In cities where they are not banned I saw huge numbers of silent electric scooters.

These are trends in China. Not one ups. Trends in China are big.

Anecdotally I would also say in the two cities I had already seen in 2000, Beijing and Hangzhou, the increase in cars and trucks was mind boggling...
