Sybase's Chief Exec Says Microsoft Faces "Crossroads Crisis"
By Steve Burke, CRN

ORLANDO, Fla. --
. . . .
[Sybase chief executive Mitchell] Kertzman also said it is going to be difficult for Microsoft to maintain its growth rate. "The ability to find markets to sustain that growth will be a significant challenge," he said. "These are real issues. Where are you going to go? I would love to have that problem."

Kertzman made these statements responding to a question on what would be his three biggest nightmares if he were Bill Gates.

Faced with a similar question on what he would do if he were acting chief executive Steve Jobs, Dell chief executive Michael Dell said, "I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders."

Kertzman followed up: "Can I change my answer on Bill?"

Interesting how the IT Expo 97 articles referring to Microsoft's challenges and antitrust probes are down toward the _bottom_ of "Today's Top Stories" (Monday 10/6/97) on the TechWire link, and the Apple/Michael Dell incident is right at the very top.

Wouldn't want to miss another negative reference to Apple.
