F5 Networks Q3 net income up; stock split announced

F5 Networks Inc. reported third-quarter net income rose to $21.8 million, or 51 cents per diluted share, up from $17 million, or 41 cents a share a year earlier.

The Seattle software company (NASDAQ: FFIV) also announced a two-for-one forward stock split as of Aug. 10.

Third-quarter revenue rose to $132.4 million from $100.1 million in 2006.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial Corp. expected earnings of 50 cents per share and revenue of $132.7 million.

For the fourth quarter, F5 officials said they expect earnings between 53 cents and 55 cents (27 cents to 28 cents post-stock split) and revenue of between $142 million and $144 million. Analysts expect earnings of 54 cents and revenue of $141.5 million.
