As I explained about 6 years ago, there weren't any WMDs. Not enough to matter anyway.

Which is not to say that Scott Ritter was trustworthy. But add what he said into other things and it all added up to me that there weren't any. The rumour that Saddam paid him to say something different from what he had previously said is not something I'm up on. I have seen Nadine mention it. Given the desire for WMDs to be found, I am not in the slightest surprised that he has been smeared.
