Something is ridiculous here. Normal coaches did not change horses every hour. Horses normally worked all day. The exceptions were if you were trying to do some special express run where the horses went at a gallop instead of a walk. Then you would need to change horses frequently. But to say "Four or six draught animals were needed to pull a coach and they had to be changed every 6 to 12 miles, depending on the condition of the roads" that is absurd.
