I think there's a bit of hyperbole in your statements.

There have been grants and government backed loans in the interest of regional job creation. This sort of thing happens all the time in lots of businesses. Intel got similar inducements to build in Israel 15 years ago and it took some time but seems to have paid off for both parties.

Did Morgan Stanley blow people's money? That's a pretty big and speculative statement that I don't think you can actually make at this point.

Those completely obsolete fabs are what are making all of AMD's processors, which are going into new machines. I guess those machines are obsolete.

If Dell offered AMD processors in the right form factor Optiplex 74x, it would probably be on my desk right now instead of the Core2 version, because we don't buy the fastest processors and on a price basis, the AMD solution is nice, especially considering the better integrated graphics. Sad to see it's made in an obsolete fabrication facility.
