Alberto Gonzalez must stay. If he were to take the wimp's way out and resign Senate democrats and Arlen Spector would ravage the Justice Department during any confirmation proceedings. If he were to resign it should be after the current session so a recess appointment could serve the remainder of President Bush's term.

The criticisms of him are entirely political.
