A few good men>>State Legislators for Legal Immigration Convene for First-Ever National Security Begins at Home Rally at National Constitution Center

Organized in the same tradition of past Continental Congresses held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania State Representative and State Legislators for Legal Immigration founder Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) today convened the first-ever National Security Begins at Home rally of state lawmakers from across the nation at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

Directly referencing Philadelphia’s unique history as the home of Benjamin Franklin and the birthplace of both the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution, Metcalfe emphasized that there could not be a better time or place to announce the next course of action for this national coalition of state lawmakers who are dedicated to the mission of protecting American lives, personal liberties, property and jobs from the clear and present dangers of illegal immigration.

“The U.S. Constitution, which was ratified in Philadelphia and celebrated in this very building, is a binding, 200+years contract of clearly defined rights for American citizens and even more clearly defined and strictly limited duties of government to uphold those rights," said Metcalfe. “Article 4, Section 4 clearly states that our federal government ‘shall guarantee to every state in this Union a Republican form of government and shall protect each of them against invasion. Any honest or clear reading of Article 4, Section 4, reveals that this provision contains absolutely nothing even remotely condoning blanket amnesty or any other so-called government solutions which irresponsibly and unpatriotically place the agenda and legal status of illegal aliens above those of American citizens.

“Yet no matter how many times it is defeated, blanket amnesty is the only ‘solution' that ‘We the people' continue to receive to our unrelenting demands for comprehensive immigration reform and secure borders from our federal government that was created ‘By the people' and ‘For the people.' Today, the members of State Legislators for Legal Immigration are to here to offer the American people a collection of National Security Begins at Home of model reform solutions that if seriously and aggressively pursued by all levels of government can move our nation above and beyond the ‘in-security blanket’ of amnesty for illegal aliens to achieve the ultimate objective of ending this ongoing foreign invasion on our soil," added Metcalfe.

In addition to calling on the federal government to honor its constitutional duty to secure America’s borders and strictly enforce existing immigration law to hold unpatriotic employers accountable for knowingly hiring illegal aliens, the following is a comprehensive list of model National Security Begins at Home legislative solutions that individual coalition members have either successfully enacted, continue to advance, or will soon introduce in their home states to eliminate all economic attractions and incentives for illegal aliens:

Requiring mandatory employer enrollment in the federal Social Security Basic Pilot New Employee Verification program.
Eliminating all non-medical emergency, public benefits for illegal aliens and subsequently requiring verification of lawful presence in the United States to receive them.
Terminating the professional license of any employer who knowingly hires an illegal alien
Maintaining criminal history records of previously detained illegal immigrants.

Withholding all state and federal highway funding from ”sanctuary cities" that either refuse to report or willingly assist illegal aliens with obtaining employment, housing, education, driver’s licenses or other types of financial assistance and taxpayer-funded, public benefits.
Establishing tough criminal penalties for anyone convicted of human trafficking.

Revising state tax codes to penalize non-profits for aiding and abetting illegal aliens.
Enacting legislation challenging judicial misinterpretations of the 14th Amendment allowing “anchor babies" or children born of illegal immigrants in the United States to automatically obtain citizenship and receive taxpayer-funded public benefits.

Changing banking laws to prohibit illegal aliens from obtaining access to all financial services, including wire transfers.

“American citizens, both born and naturalized, along with legal resident aliens, must be shown the respect that they deserve by requiring each and every person who desires to reside in the greatest country in the history of the free world to do so through the legal immigration process," said Metcalfe. “Once the economic attractions of illegal jobs and taxpayer-funded public benefits are severed at the source, these illegal alien invaders will have no choice but to go home on their own. It is my hope that State Legislators for Legal Immigration will continue to serve as a unifying force to bring all levels of government together to terminate America’s illegal alien invasion from every city, community, small town, main street, backyard; across our fruited plains and from sea to shining sea."

Including Pennsylvania, lawmakers from 30 state legislatures, or 60 percent of the nation, have now signed on as members of State Legislators for Legal Immigration.
