what I like about your place is the use of color with paint. Use a neutral with that white wainscotting (is that what that is?)- gives it the color look that is really popular now, without the really dark colors or gaudy colors.

Right now red walls are in. Yellow, avocado you name it. I'm not talking about junky hippie hangouts, some really high end houses have a lot of these colors. But you have to be careful. Paint the whole place red and well, you've got a red house. Your place has the same sense of color but without the over the top stuff. With that wainscotting you can probably do a whole rainbow of colors.
