Re: ASP/GM rise because of Barcelona introduction

Not necessarily.

Re: Q3 and Q4 typically show very healthy growth numbers for AMD ... So 30-40% growth (units or dollars) from Q2 to Q4 looks normal for AMD. Taking this into consideration, being profitable in Q4 doesn' t look unbelievable to me.

This is a flawed analysis. For one thing, Q2 was above seasonal, because demand grew from Q1 (seasonal from Q1 is usually down 5-10%). No one today is expecting growth in the second half that's seasonal from Q2. They are looking at growth seasonal from Q1. Q2 is a high blip in the radar.

Secondly, this does not take into account the changing competitive situation, Intel's Xeon quad core price cuts, Core micro-architecture ramp in the low end, desktop price cuts, etc. You should only look to historical revenue growths if all else is equal. But all is not equal, and AMD is not in as good a position this quarter as they were last quarter. And neither Barcelona nor Phenom are going to be material enough adders to revenue to change that in H2 2007.
