A little less than a year ago I posted this excellent piece as a part of another discussion. Its 11 pages but a very quick read, so print and enjoy. The piece is about the missing information so prevalent in all discussion of US trade balances.

This perspective is golden, and should be understood by all of us. In light of some impending trends, we need to understand this missing information because without it, we are like everyone else, just grist for the mill.
