Zarqawi (who ordered Lawrence Foley's murder in Oct 2002) and Yasin (who took part in the 1993 WTC bombing) were there. So were many terrorists.
I don't care where Zagarwi was..
I know. You don't care that he had started killing Americans already either. Just like you don't care about Yasin and the 1993 WTC bombing.
AQ is now larger and stronger than it was before the war
Doubtful. Since 2001, the US has been attacked by AQ only in Iraq, though most AQ attacks there are aimed at Iraqis.
Here is a list of AQ attacks on Americans prior to the war:
- the 1993 WTC bombing on the second anniversary of Saddam's retreat from Kuwait - multiple attacks on American troops in Saudi ARabia, particularly in Riyadh and Khobar - blown up the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania - bombed the USS Cole in Yemen - destroyed the WTC using hijacked planes 9/11/01 - flown another hijacked plane into the Pentagon 9/11/01 - crashed another hijacked plane intended to destroy the US Capital building 9/11/01
Since 9/11 and the Iraq war, the US homeland has not been struck, nor has the US been attacked elsewhere by AQ. Not for lack of trying I'm sure. Vigilance and the concentration of their personnnel on Iraq is likely the reason.
the number of terrorists has increased, not decreased.
We don't know that.
In the meantime, the real war in Iraq is the civil war, not the trumped "war" against AQ
AQ has been a primary procateur of civil conflict in Iraq, targeting Shiite Muslims for terror attack.
What you don't remember is that Iraq was a cause celebre before the current war just as it is now. Before the war, the Muslim world was told by Al Jazeera, the UN, and western leftists that the US enforced sanctions were killing 50,000 Iraqi babies a year. Now at least Muslims with open eyes can see the Iraqis have a freely elected government of their own, something very rare for the Muslim world, which is targeted for destruction by AQ. |
