I know it's been a while since you wrote the above messages. But I happened to run across the book just recently, and saw your column just now. Perhaps you are still interested.

It is not a question of your being right or wrong. The question is the validity of the model. Let me point out that Moore in his book never mentioned any case where the "monkey" or "chimp" has seemingly limitless resource, and launches an attack on the gorilla with both zero-price and strong brand name.

I submit that the jury is still out on the case of Microsoft vs. Netscape, and the results will be a very interesting precedent. It surely will be a nice extension of Geoffrey's theory to the unique Internet environment.
