Americans have law and order in their cultural DNA.

One of my favorite forms of fiction are apocolyptic novels. "Lucifer's Hammer" is a good example. They usually predict complete anarchy after the primal event. I think the authors, almost all liberals, are wrong.

If you look at the REAL "old west," it was quite orderly. If you stayed out of saloons and went to church on Sunday, you could live your whole life in safety.

The British culture stayed with us as the country was settled.
