British lawmakers signal a reprieve for private-equity investors and funds in an interim report to be released today as part of a probe into the industry. At the center of the debate are claims that private-equity executives receive favorable tax treatment. The Treasury Select Committee's report stops short of suggesting any changes or sanctions. It leaves issues of transparency and disclosure to Bank of England director David Walker, who has proposed a voluntary set of guidelines.
