I've also tossed out the idea that the Gazaites might as well disengage from the Palestinians that don't live in Gaza, declare themselves the independent nation of Gaza, recognize Israel as their Jewish neighbor nation, demand/request massive grants from Israel-USA-UN-Arabs with money to develop Gaza into a wonderful seaside resort w/beaches and golf location, and tell the Palestinians that don't live in Gaza "good luck, but don't come with your hand held out to us we got enough work to do", and basically align themselves with the Western world rather than with the Arab world, and that seems an amazing opportunity for peace which could solve, say 25% of the Palestinian "problem" easily. To me, this is so obvious a solution (for the people of Gaza, at least) that it's amazing no one is pursuing it. In fact, the USA and Israel are pursuing the opposite never ending never working program of a single Palestinian state (bisected by Israel? Yeah, that makes loads of sense) rather than addressing the area that doesn't have any major land ownership issues since Israel vacated. The people of Gaza appear to want to disengage from the PLO in the West Bank - OK, let them.
