Violent Week in D.C. Sees 14 Shot
July 22, 2007 - 12:32pm

WASHINGTON (AP) - Police are planning to add extra officers overnight after 14 people were wounded in shootings in D.C. in the past two days.

Three people were shot in Washington early this morning, including one in front of a nightclub near the Convention Center.

Police arrested 25-year-old Daron Garvin for allegedly firing a gun outside the Avenue club at about 2:30 a.m. and hitting a 26-year-old woman in the thigh.

The violent night came one day after police reported 11 people were wounded in six separate shootings within two hours late Thursday and early Friday east of the Anacostia River.

All the victims are expected to survive.

Police haven't said that the shootings are connected, but aren't ruling it out.
