We have to "play it as it lays." We know that, long term, Iran is the dominant Gulf power. Geography, people, culture. That's why we backed the Shah. And blew it when Khomeini took over.

The "Military Aid" we sell the Saudis are bright shiny toys to them. They are worthless as a Military. And don't think for an instant that we don't have a built in "back door" to the Avionics on the hardware we sell them.

You seem to think that selling arms to people increases the chance of war. It usually does the opposite if both sides buy. You get wars when one side outweighs the other. Bosnia was a classic example. So is Dufar.
