You have never admitted that US policy in the first place failed in iraq and that either the war shouldnt have been fought or should have been fought very differently

Yes I have, you just haven't noticed. All I said was that as a political strategy, the Dems are invested in failure in Iraq, because it gives them their issue. That is true enough, and makes them reluctant to admit the possibility of progress, because they can't advise running away if things look at all hopeful, even a little.

And boy are the MSM their friendly helpers. Did you hear about the latest NYT polls? In May the NYT asked a routine question - looking back, do you think we were right or wrong to invade Iraq? 35% said yes, 61% said no. In July they asked again, and found that % saying yes had risen to 42%. They found this so "counterintuitive" that they ran the whole poll again, but got the same answer!

Of course, there is nothing counterintuitive about it at all. Americans like winning causes and dislike losing ones. Hardly a new behavior! If Iraq looks hopeless to them, they will say, big mistake. If it looks like the US is doing better they will think again. This should be no surprise, unless you are vested in failure like the NYT.
