Why not manage spending as an alternative? The Republicans, when they were in power, were horrendous at carrying out this core conservative principle. Now they try to make up ground by talking tough on spending but aiming at programs like child health care....which will backfire on them.

It's great to be anti-tax increases but we can't borrow from China forever. Imagine the story the republicans, including the President, would have to tell now if at the time the economy showed recovery in 2003 they had held discretionary domestic spending at the same levels as fiscal year 2002?

Instead it grew almost 8 percent, with a republican president and a republican controlled congress!!

All of congress is corrupt, but the republicans are as bad as the democrats...and with the democrats I at least KNOW I am getting tax and spend...the republicans still claim somehow to stand for fiscal integrity.....why anyone would believe it, I don't know.
