I sent an email to the Harvard president asking her if she knew that Harvard may have lost $500 million yesterday (she has only been in office a couple of months). I imagine everyone in the office is too busy laughing about the crazy old alumnus who thinks Harvard may have lost $500 million yesterday to check and see what is going on. I expect to get a reply telling me to be calm, that all is under control, and that anything I have heard is greatly exaggerated--and somehow imply that it is really none of my business.
