Sometimes I think they need to "work up" from a golf cart instead of "working down" from a typical internal combustion vehicle. Start with the basics and add what you need instead of trying to duplicate the gas passenger car.

That could be how the industry will evolve; a bunch of smaller entrepreneurs, some successful some not. That's how the auto industry started; a lot of the early guys had bicycle shops!
