Oh. I had no idea that classical liberals had anything to do with this discussion. I thought you were comparing current liberals and progressives with old progressives.

I was doing both comparisons. By "former meaning of liberal" in my previous post (quoted below), I was referring to the classical liberals.

"OTOH they are closer to the old progressives (IMO) then they are to the former meaning of liberal in most cases."
