I don't see a motive, and therefore don't see a murder. Shooting a very high profile soldier in the head at close range, where's the upside to that? Sure it could have been a crime of passion, but then how do you explain the second and third shots to the head, in the presence of witnesses, those surely weren't crimes of passion. Nobody had anything to gain from killing him.
