right.. best to stay off the road. one xmas i was packing up the car to leave from mt. vernon va. to boston, one kid comes in says dad i fell its all ice. i got out and the place is covered in ice. it was like 4am and i wanted to get through balt, philly before serious heavy commuter traffic. told the kids go back to bed. Left around 10am after sun came up and place warmed up enough for streets to be clear. after leaving beltway going up 95 towards baltimore you come over a little hill and blind spot of what is ahead. Coming over the hill area they are still clearing out dozens of cars spun out, crashed, further up there is a tractor having over the bridge where it spun out on the road crossing rte95 and trailer held with fifth wheel.. You never want to try to attemp to get away on ice without salt trucks being out first.

one other time i drive out of driveway, place all ice thinking only the development is ice and roads outside will be sanded..well once i hit cul de sac very slowly, my car was taken by gravity sideways over to the other side and stopping on embankment. slowly , got traction enough with spinning wheels to melt the small amount of ice and got back to driveway. waited another hour to leave for work. g
