I've seen people experience seizures many times in my life.

When I was in high school I worked with severely mentally disabled people who were wards of the state. The ones prone to seizures wore helmets when they were not in bed. It was a good thing, too. Some of the siezures were so powerful that it looked like some invisible force had lifted and thrust the person into something like a backwards head first dive to the floor.

I'm assuming that the severe degree of mental retardation had something to do with the propensity for the seizues, but was not privy to the detailed medical data at the time.
