In the last few years I have been fairly scrupulous in avoiding foods processed with partially hydrogenated oils. This in itself reduces significantly the number of choices when shopping. However, last night (my vulnerable time), I spotted a sleeve of Nabisco Toasted crackers that had about 2/3rds remaining. They have been around for a while from some event or something. I managed to eat all of them in about a half an hour. Those oils really enhance flavor to where the snack is addictive. I had eaten pretty well during the day, with oatmeal and blueberries in late morning and a huge salad with cold chicken for dinner. In a couple of hours after the snack, I went to bed. In a few minutes, those crackers turned into an acid ball of cement in my stomach. It made me sit up for a while. The nausea took about a half hour or more to go away before I fell asleep. Even now, I can detect vestiges of that ball. Hopefully lesson learned. The trick is to remember.
