(ASE:STZ) Tuesday announced that it received the Sea King Mark 7 Radar Transmitter development and production contract valued at $8.1 million from Racal Radar Defense Systems Ltd. of Crawley, England. The contract calls for the development and production of a high power transmitter for the radar upgrade of the Royal Navy Sea King Mark 7 AEW (Airborne Early Warning) helicopters. The radar transmitter will be developed and qualified over the next 36 months at Signal Technology's Keltec Operation in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. "Racal's selection of our Keltec Operation further solidifies our position as one of the leading suppliers of high voltage power supplies and radar transmitters in the world," said Dale L. Peterson, chairman and chief executive officer of Signal Technology. Chris A. Watson, Sea King AEW Mark 7 program director for Racal Radar Defense Systems Ltd., commented: "Following competition, selection of STC Keltec as supplier of the Sea King Mark 7 Radar Transmitter was based on their solution representing the least possible risk to the overall program. Influencing factors in the decision were their mature, available technology; prior experience in the airborne environment; minimal adaptation to meet the specific requirements of the Sea King Mark 7 Program, together with senior management's commitment that Signal Technology offered in support of their Keltec Operation." Signal Technology provides innovative solutions through the design and production of sophisticated, state-of-the-art electronic components and systems for a wide variety of commercial, aerospace and defense applications, including communications networks, satellite communications, electronic countermeasures and intelligence and guidance systems.
