SUNW .vs. SGI.
<< Can someone explain why SUNW is not a great short opportunity right now? >>

a) Sun has a more diversified product line. If "slow server sales" in September is general trend, Sun can balance the shortfall with other sales. Also Sun may have a more diversified client mix, that doesn't take so much vacation in summer.

b) Sun obviously is more adept at controlling fluctuation, also they aren't dependent on the highest high end so much, where big govt. contracts are important.

c) Sun is overpriced but aren't they all. Find your best shorts elsewhere, save up the bucks for the even more overpriced. Or stay long with under-valued stocks (when they appear). Maybe it isn't bad to hold for 18 months, after all, and if a stock stays dormant long you needn't let it go on an absurd rally.
