OKay, I know only what I read about this but I have read about it because of the religious aspect. The two groups in India you talk about came at different times - both fleeing persecution om Persia.

Back in Iran, the Shah was tolerant toward the Zoroastrian remnant - they were honored for their ties to the country's ancient history - the religion was born there about 3000 yrs ago. Since he fell they've been subject to disapproval and harassment from the govt and their population has fallen by half. Maybe 20K are left there.

Scholars claim Zoroastrian ideas affected the development of Judaism during the Persian empire period and through it Christianity and Islam. But that is controversial.
