I've talked a lot about infrastructure, and why we should be spending on it- and why I think it is probably much more important than the "WOT"- because our rotting infrastructure has the potential to kill a lot more people, if we get the right confluence of bad infrastructure and an Act of God- as we did with Katrina. You might also argue that with rotten infrastructure it makes it a lot easier for terrorists to take out targets as well, if they were smart enough to look for targets that were ripe and rotting, which they probably aren't (thank goodness.)

Anyway, if we continue to spend our money stupidly on places like Iraq, and fail to rebuild our own country, I suggest we'll be seeing a lot more stories like the one below. Of course stories like these won't "Change Everything"- heck not even Katrina got that kind of billing, and people will forget, and we won't see much done- but I'll keep mentioning it, because this is a huge problem, and ignoring it isn't going to make it go away:
