I contend that the Federal and State Govts have been RAIDING our National transportation fund for YEARS, a fund you and I pay into every time we buy a gallon of gas.

It seems that every time there is some sort of disaster that requires the talking heads on the idiot box to engage in extended live coverage, it reveals the same level of inane repetitious jabbering that many of these commentators are reduced to when they don't have the benefit of reading prepared script from a teleprompter.

That being said, I did hear an interesting fact or two during the bridge coverage last night. One tidbit was that Minnesota has diverted quite a bit of highway maintenance dollars from its intended purpose in order to fund light rail boondoggles and such. Wonder if that will get any further exposure in the aftermath of the collapse? And how many other states are doing the same thing?
