Why did you choose to dig deeper?

I don't understand your point.

I chose to dig deeper because 1) I'm a retired government analyst who is naturally curious about public policy and systems.

And 2) because I'm very hassle adverse. If I had to compute my own Part B payment, that could be an important negative in my determination of whether to choose it.

And 3) because I wondered whether I would be one of those who had to pay the premium. "Income" can mean many different things, things that would alter my premium. Not that the additional premium would be such a problem. It's more a question of whether and why Medicare somehow considers me rich enough to pay premiums and what that means for determining "means."

you inadvertently became part of the problem and overlooked the solution?

Which problem and solution do you have in mind? And what does "interpretive confusion" mean as it applies to this?
